Dunstanburgh Castle
I’m Andy Smith, Ambassador for Transform Work.
Some songs when you hear them can put you back in a time and place. “My Jesus, My Saviour” is one such song. The lyrics “My comfort, my shelter, Tower of refuge and strength, Mountains bow down and the seas will roar, At the sound of Your name” remind me of walking along the Northumbria coast near Dunstanburgh castle. It is a bit of a ruin now, but the central tower is still standing on the promontory jutting out into the North sea with the waves crashing all around it. Still a strong refuge.
When ever God did something significant, the Israelites were asked to erect marker stones. These anchor points were not for nostalgia, but to remind them that God had been real and present with them then and He would be again today.
Today, if you are feeling in need of a spiritual boost, then why not play a song that has significance and encourage yourself in the Lord that He was faithful then and will be today.
