Embrace Opportunities

I’m Andy Smith, Ambassador for Transform Work.

How often when out and about or at work or with family do we miss opportunities to share our faith?

I do not mean wholesale preaching of the gospel, but the simple things like what you did at the weekend when meeting by the drinks machine at work on a Monday morning. If people want to ask further about you going to church, they will. If not, then wait for another moment. It is about building relationships that lead to more open conversations.

I have taken some opportunities and missed some over the years, but one opportunity I really did want to take hold of was when my company started doing “Being like me” stories and asked if people from the faith community would do so.

I shared on how God brought us through a really challenging time over the first 9 months of my son’s life. Especially when the doctors told us his time was up and we needed to let him die, but God had other plans. I shared this story at work and over 2,400 people viewed it. I had a lot of great feedback too.

I have retired from work now, but my story is still there for people to read.
