Trustee of Transform Work

Transform Work is seeking to appoint new Trustees to help guide and strengthen our mission. This voluntary role offers an exciting opportunity to take forward a growing international Christian charity that supports believers to live out their faith in the workplace. We currently support over 500 Christian Workplace Groups and 58 Christian Professional and Sector Groups.

Our mission is to:

“Connect, equip and support Christians to express their faith at work in word and action, in missional communities in their workplace”

You will join an existing Trustee Board of five. Each is committed, servant-hearted and prayerful in their oversight of the organisation, our staff and the organisations and communities we support. The Trustee role is voluntary and usually carries a term of three years (renewable).

Application process

Please send your CV and a covering letter explaining why you would be interested in serving Transform Work as a trustee, via email to our Chair Julian.Shellard@transformwork.net. In your letter please indicate what Transform Work means to you and highlight any relevant experience and specific skills you feel you could bring as a Trustee.

If you would like an informal discussion or to ask any questions before formally applying you are welcome to email Julian at this address: Julian.Shellard@transformwork.net

Our closing date for applications is 31 January 2026.

Trustee Responsibilities

Our Trustees are responsible for the governance of Transform Work.

These responsibilities, as with every charity, are to:

● Ensure the organisation is carrying out its stated purpose for the public benefit
● Comply with the law
● Act in the charity’s best interests
● Manage the charity’s resources responsibly
● Act with reasonable care and skill
● Ensure that the charity is accountable (and in the case of Transform Work,
ultimately accountable to God).

Day-to-day, under the overall leadership of the Chair, the Trustees are custodians of
the mission of Transform Work and so exercise oversight of all activities of
Transform Work. This is achieved by:

● Attending and being active contributors to our quarterly Trustee meetings, to
review our finances, strategy and current activities
● Leading or participating in one or more sub-committees/projects, normally in
an area of expertise of the Trustee
● Participating in Transform Work events
● Promoting Transform Work, its events and resources to your networks and
churches
● Identifying potential areas of funding by introducing potential supporters or
sourcing possible grant applications.

Most of our activities are conducted online and so Trustee location can be flexible. We normally meet in person as a Trustee Board once per year, and you will also attend one Team Day per year, in person or virtually. Estimated time commitment is around 4 hours per month, in addition to meetings and events.

Person Characteristics

Our Trustees are:

● Committed and practising Christians who are in agreement with our
Statements of Faith and Lifestyle which we will send following application
● Committed to prayer
● People who can work respectfully and constructively with Christians of varying
types and traditions and have strong relational and communication skills.
● People with work experience, with a desire to live out their Christian faith in
the workplace and ideally have experienced the benefit of Christians meeting
together and encouraging one another in their workplaces.

We welcome applications from Christians of all backgrounds, ages, ethnicities and traditions.

Here is what one of our trustees had to say about his experience of being a Transform work Trustee:

“I enjoy being a Trustee of Transform Work because we are actively tackling the major issue of UK Christians isolation in the workplace and helping them come together to transform their workplace.

I have had the privilege of jointly setting strategic approaches to developing Christian workplace groups and seeing God’s hand as He brings groups to life. We work closely together as trustees and CeO, developing strategy and delivering targets, our relationships are key.

A recent highlight for me has been the extension of our ministry into Scotland through the building of strategic relationships, running Thrive’25, a week of encouragement to Christian workers across 5 Scottish cities.

I am personally excited by the plans we are developing for our next 5 year strategy as we move forward in strengthening our Ambassador team, and moving towards 1000 groups. “
