Inter Faith Week 2024 - Sunday 10 - Sunday 17 November.

Transform Work has been promoting our Faith Literacy materials to members of Christian Workplace Groups, ahead of Interfaith Week. Quite a few plan to use them to run an event in this week, as it is a great opportunity to approach HR / Diversity & Inclusion staff to run an event on faith.

You could use the materials (slides or recorded versions of the talks) that are available on the TransformWork site.

Faith Literacy Bitesize Series : Transform Work

This could take the form of a presentation, or would work even better as a more interactive discussion on faith and belief.

  • We suggest you could use “Talk 1” on What is the meaning of “faith”, “belief” and “religion” for Interfaith week.
  • You could either play the video and then lead a discussion or take the slides and deliver the talk yourself.
  • You can share the materials with HR in advance for ‘vetting’ if needed.  They have been designed to try to stay on ‘safe ground’ while still communicating something.
  • If people liked the session, you could offer a follow up with the other two talks.
  • If you need/want to make it more explicitly “interfaith” then you could invite e.g. a Jewish/Muslim colleague to respond to the material as part of the session.

Some steps to take:
  1. Contact TransformWork for prayer covering and advice
  2. Work through the Faith Literacy videos yourself so you're confident in the material.  Read the leaders notes on our website.
  3. Share with your Christian Workplace Group and pray - so it's a team effort
  4. Email your line manager or Diversity and Inclusion manager asking to meet with them to talk about Faith Literacy for Interfaith week
  5. Plan your proposal.
  • Why should D&I promote the allow a Faith Literacy course for all staff?
  • What benefits will it bring staff and the organisation at large?  (hint – diversity implies difference, so we need to understand each other better if we are to be inclusive).
  • Suggest the days, times you want to run the course in person / online
  • What do you need from D&I? - promote through comms, anything else?
