Wiltshire Council Christian Workplace Group

wiltshire council CWG

The Wiltshire Council Christian Workplace Group had already been meeting in the morning before work to pray, but this came more into focus following the 2009 Christmas Carol Service when more people were invited to join us.

We have up around 40 people on our contact list, and meet monthly with up to 18 people. Our focus is to pray for the work of the council in our communities, as well as our colleagues, ourselves, the nation and the world.

In addition to our group there is a Council supported chaplaincy service to colleagues of all faiths and no faith. This was established at the request of the Wiltshire Council employees. Both the Christians at Work Group and the Chaplaincy service are supported from the very top of the council management and provide support to each other. The Chaplaincy service operates in all three of the council’s main hub locations.

A regular event supported by the Christians at Work Group is the annual Staff Christmas Carol Service, which can see up to 100 people attending. Each year the Christians Workplace Group present each person attending the Carol Service with a card with a verse of scripture, a small gift, and a personal invite to the group.

We have recently connected with the Transform Work UK network, and met with their local ambassador. It was great to know that an organisation like this exists to promote and support Christians in the Workplace.
