Seeds Being Sown in Chelmsford City Council

News from Robert Stone the Christian Workplace Group leader.

Our regular meetings continue to attract small numbers, although we have a larger email circulation list. We are also very fortunate to have a committed Christian as our Chief Executive.

At Christmas we decided that we would have a collection to support a local Church’s contribution of shoeboxes to Operation Christmas Child. We managed to collect over £300 which paid for the transport of 150 shoeboxes almost exactly the number collected by the Church.

In February the Council organised a well-being week for staff.

In previous years this has focused on food and fitness but this year the Christian Fellowship was invited to have a stand at the launch expo to promote the group. We created leaflets to give away about the Christian view of eternal well-being, and some of the group members baked some fruit cakes to give away.

The day began when I woke up feeling very nervous. I gave myself a good talking to about whose service I was stepping out in, and found that I really enjoyed the event and the team had some really good conversations with colleagues, and although many people began their conversations with “I’m a convinced atheist” we felt that even on those occasions we could see the Spirit at work.

We give thanks for the chance to witness and the contacts that were made.

I hope that gives you a flavour of life here in Chelmsford. Please continue to pray for the seeds sown to bear fruit for our Lord.
